Tour Cuc Phuong National Park, Van Long Nature Reserve, Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Bai Dinh
08.30: Leave The Long hotel for Cuc Phuong National Park through beautiful countryside roads.
10.00: Arrive at Cuc Phuong National Park, visit Endangered Primate Rescue Centre, takes about 30 minutes, visit Turtle Conservation Program, about 30 minutes, visit botanical gardens.
12.00: Have lunch at the park centre.
13.00: Go to the park centre by car, about 20 kilometers through primary forest.
13.30: Two different hikes: To the “1000 years Old Tree” and to the “Ancient Tree”. You guide choose between mountainous trekking or trekking over flat paths.
16.00: Visit Nguoi Sua Kep cave, the “Cave of Prehistoric Man”. In 1966 graves and tools were excavated here dating back 7500 years ago, and making it one of the oldest sites of human habitation in Vietnam.
Free time to relax, walk around the park.
Evening: Night-spotting with a guide in the primary forest for elusive mammals like the Indian flying squirrel, Samba deer, Loris and several small carnivores
Stay overnight in: Bungalow at Mac Lake
09.30: Leave for Van Long Nature Reserve
10.30: Arrive at Gia Vien village, optional:
– Take a buffalo cart for a ride around the countryside ( 12 USD extra, 1-4 persons)
– Free time to explore the village and countryside on foot.
11.30: Lunch at a local restaurant in Gia Vien district.
12.30: Take a rowing boat through the Van Long Wetland reserve for bird and monkey watching.
15.00: Visit Hoa Lu, the Ancient Capital, temples, tomb and a village.
16.00: Continue to Bai Dinh Temple Complex (15 minutes), one hour to explore the site.
17.15: Return to Tam Coc.
